Saber Birthday Party

Friday the 13th, 2011... It's Saber's birthday, but I can't even post it properly since Blogger is down. Such misfortune... Anyway, Blogger is back up and now I can finally post about Saber's birthday party! I planned on just only making one 4koma but ended up with a couple more ideas XD Doesn't it make you curious what's going on above? :3

Before that, let me introduce to you... The Saber Lion plushie! When I first seen her, I knew I had to have her. Thankfully this store in Richmond that just opened was selling her. I quickly grabbed her, lol.

And now... On with the party! The 4komas below are posted on the Melancholy of Saber Lily site amongst others ^^

It's very inconvenient whenever Saber Lily goes 1/1 scale on me... You can just never have fun...

Did I tell you that I like that Adult Mikuru figma? It's very useful ^^ It was kinda fun mixing and matching Saber and Saber Alter... But I just realized that Saber Alter's face can't fit into Saber's face...

And now back to the main story... Something I've held off for a long time... You can read this post before reading the 4koma below to refresh your memory. It has been a long time since I continued this story, but I've always had this particular idea in mind for a long time XD

Saber Lion is such a glutton... Did Lily even feed her? No, scratch that... What did she eat to get so big?? So many questions! Err... Anyway, wasn't sure if anyone would like the idea of a whole ferret being eaten (I love that the vest on the ferret is removable), so I made an alternate, slightly less bad ending ^^;

I hate to brag, but I really like how I drew that swirly eye on the ferret ^^; Which End do you prefer? You can see the original picture below.

I've taken photos for the next parts already, just need to edit them, so hopefully not much delay for this storyline for next time ^^;

Lions and Tigers and B★RS, Oh My!

Black Rock Shoot... Aaah, whatever... BRS is pretty much old news these days right? Which means it's a good time to make a post about Black Rock Shooter, hehehe. But really I figured since everyone's done their reviews already I could just stuff'em in their original packaging box that came from Toylet. Normally I don't order from them, but they had a special promotion...

So here is the box... I'll just leave them in the box for now...

*Rustle rustle*
What's that noise?

*BOOOM*
What the heck was that!?
BRS Figma: "Finally got out that box..."

BRS Figma: "Those packing peanuts are horrible."

*BOOM*
BRS Figma: "YIKES!"

BRS Figma: "Nendo! I told you to wait while I make the exit."

BRS Nendoroid: "I don't like waiting."

*BOOOM*
BRS Figma: "Another one!?"

BRS Plushie: "Ugyuu..."
BRS FIgma: "Does she even have a cannon?"
No, she doesn't, by the way... What a disappointment...

BRS Figma: "She looks sleepy..."
BRS Nendoroid: "She's been sleeping too much. She's not used to the bright lights..."
Kinda funny looking, but the plushie still looks cute. Though I was thinking she would be bigger... But I guess that's the promo from Toylet. Buy both the Figma and Nendoroid get a free plushie. I should've known it wouldn't have been a big one...

Anyway... I guess I should get to the point of why I titled my post with a pop culture, Wizard of Oz reference. And what better way to explain than with a couple of 4koma!

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Part 40
Here's the "tiger" part... I'm sure some of you already know that it's Lum's body. Lum's head is much bigger, so Black Rock Shooter's head looks really tiny here. Oh and I did order BRS, Black Blade Version, but I cancelled it because I didn't have the money at the time. Do I regret it? Probably not.

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Part 41
Seriously... It's that cold here! Mostly because of the house too. It gets really cold since our flooring is granite. I'd turn on the heat, but the gas bill's been quite high these days. Poor Saber Lion. I don't know if you've guessed, but this BRS Nendo's face is my favourite ^_^ She looks cute and badass at the same time! And so here is the "lion" part from the title ^^; Who knew Saber Lion wears a black ribbon (like Lily's) under her suit...

These two comics are posted on The Melancholy of Saber Lily site already.

Oh and I didn't paint Saber Lion's hair. That'd be way too much work! I mean, I haven't blogged for almost a month already, think I have time for that? ^^;

So a quick Photoshop magic later, Black Rock Shooter fits into the lion suit in a jiffy! These two 4koma was just something out of the blue, but I really like the Black Rock Shooter figures here, so who knows what kind of fun I'll have with them :D Though for now I better continue the story arc with the titular character soon ^^;

And now I bookend the post with the back of the plushie :P

Saber's Birthday

I feel that I have failed as a Saber fan... I didn't realize that today, May 13th, is her birthday. I didn't realize she even had a birthday because she's an ethereal being. But of course she is supposed to be a historical figure, a hero, so she was a real person with a real birthday. Thanks to joeltng from Twitter for the reminder. I didn't prepare for anything unfortunately... But I did take this picture of the door to my room recently. It's a wall scroll that is custom made that I got from a store I hardly go to. It was hanging on their glass door, and I immediately drooled for it. Thankfully it was for sale and I bought their last one. I hung it on my door right away.

For the rest of this post, let's celebrate with one of the best unofficial Saber artist ever, Tony Taka! I've been using this picture for wallpaper at work. ^^

Even though Tony Taka draws the best faces ever, Saber's backside looks just as good! Though for some people who doesn't know Saber (ie. my coworkers) thought that her poofy shoulder on her dress is her breast... WTF people!?

Get out of the way and stop exposing yourself Rin! It's Saber's birthday gundammit!

Eh? What's that? You're asking for the rest of Tony Taka's Saber pictures in her ecchi glory? Well I'm not gonna post that here... What kind of Saber fan do you think I am? Huh? I leave that to Ecchi Man's [NSFW] Saber in her birthday suit post...

Noooh Rider! Don't take away Saber's Lion you meanie! This picture initiated the discussion about Saber's birthday, so thankfully I posted this on Twitter and got some of it going ^^;

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SABER!

Unlimited Saber Works

The arrival of Saber Lily Nendoroid was a pretty good timing. I was about to collect the poseable figures of Saber together. She came in with EMS shipping because I forgot to change my shipping method at HLJ from the last order ^^; But here she is posing with her older sisters. Saber Lily Figma had to borrow Excalibur from her blue cloth counterpart.

Here are the boxes I've placed for my project. This was taken before the Lily Nendoroid arrived, so the box isn't in the photo. I took this photo when I was taking pictures for the last Melancholy of Saber Lily comic.

Here are the Revoltech version of Sabers. The blue one must be the first poseable Saber ever made. I thought she was the cutest thing ever! I used the promo picture all over the place as avatars. Unfortunately the one I got had an extra long neck... The Revoltech Saber Alter might be the only poseable Alter we'll ever have, it seems. I also remembered there was a picture of Revoltech Saber Lily as well... Maybe that was custom made...

And here are the figmas... Saber Lily seems to be played more often. Saber who arrived way back when and I've only gotten a chance to take pictures of her recently. She'll get a spotlight soon though.

The Saber Nendoroids are growing exponentially! If I had the Konata version then she would be here too XD Right now I have these three. Hetare Saber, in the center, is a first generation Nendoroid, a lot of her pieces here hard to remove compared to the newer ones. I don't think I'll be able to interchange with the new ones... I really like the lion that Hetare Saber is riding on!

And of course my homemade Saber Gundam.

So what's the point of this? Well to explain let me show you the picture below...

That's how much Haruhi I'm using from the last Melancholy of Saber Lily comic... Can you guess what's coming up next?

No more riddles... No more waiting... A Dollfie Dream Theater X Melancholy of Saber Lily Collaboration between Wolfheinrich and myself, presents...

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Part 23

The conclusion... so many images that it can't be contained in a 4 panel comic!

It took me almost a full week to set this all up for the conclusion of the battle! If you look up again, all the pictures I've posted above the comics are all in the panels, separated from the background and placed into the comic background... Hours and hours were spent just to cut out the background... I'm exhausted!!!

Haruhi faction must be shaking in their boots... and yes, I've cut them out of the background too...

Now, I've told Wolfheinrich that it was going to be "Unlimited Saber Works"... but I don't think he really knows what's gonna happen at the end. I asked him to take pictures of Saber Dollfie holding Excalibur in front of her to show that she's chanting the spell. I also asked him to take a kneeling picture of Saber Dollfie and to put a figma on her thigh with her hand holding on to the figma. I did not tell him why I needed this picture :P And the reason for it is...

SPANKING GALORE GALLERY!

I thought this was kinda cute with Nendoroid spanking XD I was going to do a dialogue for Saber Lion in the last panel, but it was too busy already. She would've said, "GAO GAO GAAAAA!" Translated as "EXCALIBUR!" as she's about to spank Nendoroid Haruhi! Was gonna give a shout out to Snark because I know he would've liked that Gaogaigar reference ^^

Saber Lily, with the help of Saber Alter, gets even with Chouyusha Haruhi. I was going to put this smaller in the background, but Saber Lily's the star! So she was moved up closer to the front of the panel. Yeah, I had to use Mikuru's face on Haruhi again... One thing I forgot to take a picture of is the opened boxes of every figma and Nendoroid I was using... It was a disaster area!

This was pushed to the back to put Saber Lily up front. Basically Saber just finished her spanking of this Haruhi and about to put her sword back in the sheath. I guess this was appropriate since it's the original Saber and the original Haruhi ^^ While Lily was with the Chouyusha Haruhi. A tag team match in the future perhaps?

Hehehehe... this is just so hilarious to look at XD Basically these two are underneath Saber Dollfie's hand in the last panel. So she was holding two and was going to spank both of them with the giant Excalibur! Oh the hilarity just kills me!

And here's the final product of it. If you squint real hard you can see the two asses hanging out there XD

This is the first picture of Saber Lily and Chouyusha Haruhi that I took... I realized that Saber Lily may not be left-handed... So I had to reshoot this scene... I couldn't get the pose again, but I look at this photo right after I got it off the camera and just LAUGHED AND LAUGHED! It looked so good!

The last picture in the last panel was the two Nendoroids talking. The newest Nendoroid talking to the older Nendoroid. I thought that was quite appropriate...

Oh what's this? Extra pictures?

Poor poor Saber Lily Nendoroid... The comic is also posted at The Melancholy of Saber Lily. Check it out for previous installment!

Takoyaki and More!

Doesn't that just looks delish? Takoyaki, fried battered balls filled with octopus pieces covered with takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, seaweed and bonito flakes, is one of my favourite Japanese snacks. I don't remember when I heard about this, but it may have been from the short animated omake from the second Cardcaptor Sakura movie, featuring Kero-chan.

For the Vancouverites; this one is from the food court in Aberdeen Centre in Richmond, BC (I forgot the name of the stall), but you can find it in other special events like the Night Market or the Powell Street Festival.

Anyway, what's the point of me tempting you with food? Oh it's kinda related to the latest comic...

The Melancholy of Saber Lily Part 14

So Saber Lion was right... it was food after all!

I was overestimating this part and my skills in creating the extra "panel" for this comic. I thought I had pretty good skills in editing movies, but the program I was using (Windows Movie Maker) was kinda basic, and I feel like I'm running out of time... So I just spliced it together to make it on time. Plus I don't think I can do it any better than this. If I think I can then I will work on it again another time :P So here it is...

And now for the boring behind-the-scenes segment of this post...

The above picture was for part 13 and 14 of my comics. That's why you still see the Nendoroid Miku in this picture. Now, you might be wondering why I have Louise in there too. I did get her recently and noticed she had a pained, crying face. Very cute! So I used that in part 13 for Miku where she's getting hit by Saber Lion. I had to recolour the eyebrows because it was pink, matching Louise's hair. No one took a guess though ^^;

Rin was also used, for her face only, lol. Unfortunately her face doesn't fit properly in Saber Lion, but heck it works fine as you can see above. The face stickers were useful too, but I actually scanned them rather than actually sticking them. I always have this thing about hating to use stickers because they'd be a waste when I want to stick them on to something else... Damn my conservative style!

Lastly this is Saber Lion using Rin's blank face carrying a pan. I used the blank face to make Saber Lion smile, just like Chiyo-chan in the original cooking song animation... I was going to use the scanned stickers for this face, but it didn't have the appropriate eyes. Instead I cut out the eyes from Saber Lion's angry face, added "happy" eyebrows and used a smiling sticker for the video. I had to buy the pan she's holding from this miniature food items series. It was a stupid purchase. I figured I could've just taken a picture of a frying pan and do it in Photoshop... *sigh* Since I was getting lazy at this point, wanting to finish this quickly, I just stick the pan on her hand with masking tape.

Anyway... I'll end it with the source of my silly idea of a video... Enjoy!
