It's almost like an annual tradition now that every year I post up an Ayanami Rei related post on her birthday on March 30th. This year isn't as grand as last year's posts... I've only got two things to show you here ^^;
First up is the 1/7 scale Ballerina Rei by Kotobukiya. I've been going back and forth about getting this one when she was first announced sometime last year. She looks really good, and I like her face, but I was slowly running out of room in the Rei Shrine ^^;
But eventually she won me over... At a sale on Play Asia, hahaha. I was actually expecting to get her locally, but the chance never came up. So here she is finally in my grasp! And she is very pretty!
It's also good timing since I watched Black Swan within a month or two months ago, so I was still on the ballerina high. Her ballet slipper here looks good... I like the straps.
Her tutu and her headpiece (?) are semi-transparent material, so they add a nice effect. I'm not too thrilled about the base though. A very strange looking base. Maybe it's supposed to connect to Asuka's ballerina version?
Her bare back and the ribbon around her neck is a nice addition to the outfit.
Panty shot? ^^; It almost looks like Rei is glaring at me too for taking a picture of her at this angle, lol.
From the top... There's a nice view from this angle :3
But in the end, it's her face that got me... After buying so many Rei figures, I've gotten choosy about faces on figures. And this applies to every figure out there that I want to get. It's all about the face. If the face doesn't win me over, the whole figure doesn't get added to my collection.
This is just bonus ^^;;; Um... She was doing a mid-air twirl? XD This is what I like about Kotobokiya. Even if their figure is lying down or sitting down, the bottoms of their figures aren't flat, but fully fleshed out. I've seen ones that are completely flat. They're convenient to place on flat surfaces, but can look ugly.
And another from Kotobukiya! A pair of chopsticks in the shape of Rei's entry plug... And no, you're not seeing double. I do have 2 sets. With cheaper items like these, I'm starting to buy like Konata ^^; I only bought two though. One to use, and one to keep. I have actually used it a few times on California rolls... Very slippery... No grip at all!
Maybe they weren't meant to be used after all ^^; Anyway, here's a close up of the small Rei inside the entry plug. Looks quite detailed for something so small!
From the front side... I think her eyes are actually painted red too! Such detailing!
And now, the changing of the guards... Enma Ai has been in front of my monitor for the longest time... Now it's time for Rei to take reign over, especially since it's her birthday... And the shrine is basically spilling over ^^;;;

Otaku Around the House
It's getting cold around here in Vancouver, so around the house is cold as well because of the granite floors here. So my feet is the first to react to the temperature... My solution? Totoro slippers!
Louise has a change of face to reflect my current situation... sorta. I get quite ticked off at work that sometimes I'm on the verge of tears of anger. I guess that's my self anger management ^^;
My cap... I wear it on rainy days or just any day really... It's really helpful these days when it is raining so it prevents my glasses from getting wet.
Ummm... I better stay alert in the morning...
Future home of Saber Lily. I think I'm ready to put her in there, but kinda lazy. Or maybe not lazy, but just doing a lot of work on the computer.
Finally I took pictures of my Iron Man statue that I got from HLJ way back in their Summer Sale. This statue was 60% off its original price. I pre-ordered an Iron Man bust from a comic book store, but I never got it... So instead I've spent the same amount of money on the full size statue!
And it lights up! The smaller Iron Man action figure is for scale purposes. I was telling my co-worker about the big statue that I got for quite cheap. Ok, cheap is not really the word, but less expensive than its original price... I can't remember who made that action figure, but the statue is from Kotobukiya.I really wanted an Iron Man merchandise ever since the movie last year. It was just one of the best comic book superheroes movie I've seen!
Just to show how it looks like in the dark ^^This has been an intermission between two Melancholy of Saber Lily comics XD

Happy Birthday Selphie Tilmitt!
It's Selphie's birthday today on July 16th! She's my favourite Final Fantasy character to date. That girl named Lightning might be a second fave, heheh. Selphie Tilmitt is originally from Final Fantasy VIII and in that game she's the token girl with the bubbly personality, along the lines of Yuffie (FFVII) and Rikku (FFX). But don't mistake her to be airheaded though. She can hack your computer in seconds! She's a computer whiz in the game. She's also the reason why I also like the colour yellow ^_^Oh and it's also my grandmother's (from my mom's side) birthday! Selamat ulang tahun oma!
This figure still in its original packaging and is probably one of the first few figures I've ever purchased. Back then I was still under the impression that figures that are still in their packages worth more. Although to me I doubt I'll sell this since she's a favourite. I remember that I bought in the United States when my family went to Seattle. I probably bought it from an Electronics Boutique (that's what GameStop used to be, in case some people don't know).
A close up of the face... Unfortunately since it's such an old figure, about 10 years old now, the blister plastic is turning yellow. I wonder what caused that?
Here's the back of the packaging... They were hard to find figures if I remembered correctly.
And there you are, July 16, Selphie's birthday ^^The following I wanted to have a special picture with my 1/8 Kotobukiya Selphie figure and the Play Arts figure, but I didn't realize how big the Play Arts figure was. I was going to have the big Selphie to carry the smaller one ^^;;
Instead you get a sisterly love picture. Chibi Selphie is cute, ne? ^.^
"Yay! Sephie-onee-chan can play with me!"The following is another tribute to Selphie using the Kotobukiya figure. I'm also using the pictures as the figure.fm giveaway. I'm not expecting to win since I just did them in a rush... Either way it was a tribute for her birthday ^_^ So without further ado...
Selphie in Odaiba!
O wow she's just looming there! A bit too shiny perhaps ^^; I pretty much just googled for a picture of the Odaiba Gundam to find this picture. Seems to be everywhere now!
Here are the original pictures.
A big crowd is waiting for the boards to be taken down so they can see up Selphie's... Umm... yeah, you get the idea... Anyhow, I'm calculating that this Selphie is around 12:1 scale ^^;
The original untouched picture.
And now a closeup of Selphie from almost directly underneath! I was begging Chun and her hubby to let me borrow this picture, but I sorta butchered a lot of it, lol... sorry Chun and husband ^^;;; Thanks for letting me use it... sorta XD
And here's the original picture. Much better looking, right?
This was my favourite angle of the Odaiba Gundam... and now it's got my favourite Final Fantasy character on it ^_^ This picture was originally from Punynari's blog.
The original picture. I only had to use a section of it, thankfully ^_^Lastly I'll leave you with Selphie's reaction to her newly built bigger-than-life statue XD
